Privacy notice

What PrintVeld collects, what becomes public, and how to exercise your privacy rights.

Effective 2026-10-09

Who is responsible

Jean Martin Zuidersma operates PrintVeld as an individual in South Africa. PrintVeld is the platform name, rather than a separate registered company.

A non-residential correspondence address has not yet been confirmed. Please email the operator about written correspondence. Legal and privacy contact: zuidersmainnovations@gmail.com.

Information we collect and why

Netlify Identity processes your sign-in email, password credentials or Google sign-in details to verify and manage your account. PrintVeld stores an account identifier, display name, profile details you provide, policy acknowledgements, contributions, uploads, enquiries, private messages, reports and moderation records. Information normally comes from you; a report may also contain information supplied by another member. Hosting services receive technical information such as IP addresses, request details and security logs to deliver and protect the site.

The account email and required form fields are needed for the requested account or service. You may browse public pages without providing them. Bio, location, printer and public contact details are optional. We use account and contribution information to provide the service you request, optional visibility choices on your consent, and proportionate security/moderation records for our legitimate interests in operating a safe service or meeting legal duties. We assess those interests against your rights. A privacy notice acknowledgement is not blanket consent to every use.

Public profiles, posts and files

Your display name appears with published contributions. Forum threads and replies appear immediately and may later be removed by moderators. Models, news contributions and marketplace listings enter review before publication. A public maker profile is optional; contact details have a separate display choice and remain hidden unless both choices are enabled. Your sign-in email is not copied into a public profile. Public material can be indexed by search engines or copied by other visitors.

Only upload information and files you are entitled to share. Avoid identity documents, home addresses and other people’s private information. Photos prepared by the browser are resized and re-encoded, but review them for visible personal details before submitting. A public model’s licence may permit others to keep and use copies they already downloaded.

Private messages and moderation

Marketplace messages are available to the conversation participants. Reporting a received message makes that specific message and report available to authorised moderators; ordinary moderator screens do not list everyone’s private conversations. Technical administration, a verified privacy request, a security investigation or a lawful demand may require restricted access to stored records. Messages are stored on the platform and are not end-to-end encrypted. Share contact details only when you choose. You can block further messages from an account and report concerns.

Service providers and international processing

Netlify provides hosting, Identity, Functions, Forms, Database and Blobs storage. Netlify and its infrastructure providers may process information outside South Africa, including in the United States. Google handles Google sign-in if you choose it, and receives technical request information when this site loads Google Fonts. External supplier, model-source and news links take you to services with their own policies. We do not sell your account details or run advertising trackers.

We use written provider data-processing terms and must assess international transfers under section 72 of POPIA. You can request information about relevant safeguards from us. Provider certifications do not, by themselves, certify PrintVeld’s compliance. Netlify publishes its data-processing agreement and subprocessors; Google publishes its privacy policy.

Cookies and browser storage

Sign-in uses essential session cookies and browser storage. The site also remembers interface choices needed for the service. Calculators run in your browser; calculator inputs are not submitted to PrintVeld. We do not currently use advertising cookies or a third-party visitor analytics script. Blocking essential storage may prevent sign-in. A new non-essential tracking service would need a separate assessment and appropriate choices before activation.

How long information is kept

We retain account information while needed to provide your account; public contributions while they remain published; and messages while needed for the conversation, requests and dispute handling. We review rejected or withdrawn submissions, reports, forms and inactive accounts to remove or de-identify information once the purpose ends. Legal duties, a dispute, abuse prevention or a documented legal hold may justify limited continued retention. There is currently no automatic deletion job; reviews and verified deletion requests are handled by the operator.

Withdrawing a contribution hides it and disables its hosted downloads where applicable; this does not erase the stored record. Account closure and deletion require a separate request. Where deletion is appropriate, it includes relevant database records, uploaded files and provider-held forms or Identity records. Backups and earlier deploy snapshots may remain subject to provider retention until they expire; we restrict their further use and reapply necessary deletions after restoration. We explain any records that must be retained.

Your choices and rights

Use zuidersmainnovations@gmail.com or the Get in touch form and select “Privacy / deletion request”. Tell us which account or record is involved and the help you need. Do not send a password, identity number or unrelated sensitive documents. We may ask for proportionate proof that you control the account or are authorised to act for someone else, using a private channel.

You may ask whether we hold your personal information, request access, correct inaccurate information, object on reasonable grounds where the law allows, withdraw an optional consent, or request deletion of information we are no longer entitled to retain. The Information Regulator provides POPIA objection and correction/deletion forms. These rights have lawful limits; we explain any refusal and the available complaint route. Requests for records under PAIA use the separate PAIA process.

Change your profile and visibility choices in your account. Withdrawing consent to public contact display does not prevent using your member account. We aim to acknowledge requests within five working days and respond without unnecessary delay, subject to applicable legal time limits. There is no fee just to confirm whether we hold your personal information; any lawful access fee is explained in advance.

Children

Member accounts are currently for people aged 18 or older. Registration and participation require an 18+ declaration; this is a declaration, rather than documentary age verification. Younger visitors may read public pages and use the calculators without an account. If we learn that an account belongs to a child, we will pause participation and contact the account holder about removal or an appropriate guardian process.

Security, incidents and complaints

We use HTTPS, verified accounts, access controls, upload limits and moderation tools. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Report suspected account misuse or a data exposure privately to zuidersmainnovations@gmail.com. Where POPIA requires notification of a security compromise, we notify the Regulator and affected people as soon as reasonably possible, with information and protective steps available at the time.

You can complain to Information Regulator South Africa without first obtaining our permission. See its current POPIA complaint forms and channels or call 010 023 5200. This notice is version 2026-10-09; material changes are published here, and a new acknowledgement or consent is requested where needed.
