Flashforge announced the CJ270 on 14 September 2026 at an advertised US$3,999. It uses multi-jet printing to combine CMYK, white and clear materials, with water-soluble supports. This is a different approach to switching between coloured filament spools.

The manufacturer lists a 180 × 120 × 100 mm build volume. Its appeal is producing colour-rich prototypes and display pieces without painting every surface afterwards. Support removal and finishing remain part of the workflow.

As checked on 9 October, this is an order-opening announcement: Flashforge schedules its first 100 units for shipment on 15 October. That does not establish South African stock or delivery dates.

PrintVeld’s take: local designers may find this direction interesting for presentation models. The practical comparison should include consumables, finishing time and support access. We have not tested the machine locally. Would full-colour printing change what you make, or would you still prefer filament and paint?
