Prusa announced on 20 August 2026 that the first INDX conversion kits had started shipping. It also opened orders for complete CORE One+ Gen 2 INDX printers, with four-tool and eight-tool options available as assembled machines or kits.

INDX uses separate tools rather than repeatedly pulling different filaments through one nozzle. Prusa highlights low-mass induction heating and the ability to combine nozzle sizes and materials. That makes the update relevant to functional parts and support strategies as well as colourful display pieces.

PrintVeld’s take: the useful comparison is the whole job. For a South African maker, imported upgrade costs, setup time and saved material all belong in the calculation. Less changeover waste may matter, but it does not automatically make an upgrade economical for occasional multicolour prints.

Existing owners should check the conversion option for their exact printer generation before ordering. The announcement does not establish South African stock or landed pricing.

Would your next upgrade buy more colours, better support material, or simply fewer failed prints? Tell the forum what you print and which trade-off matters most.
