Formlabs clarifies Form 3 support: consumables and spare parts have different timelines

A September update separates ongoing customer support from consumables and spare-part availability, a useful distinction for second-hand buyers.

Formlabs shared an updated support statement for the Form 3, Form 3B, Form 3L and Form 3BL on 8 September 2026. Customer support remains available and existing warranties will be honoured, according to the company.

The important distinction is between consumables and spare parts. Resins, tanks and build platforms are planned to remain on sale through at least January 2028, subject to demand and stock. Most spare parts are expected to remain available through at least January 2027; Formlabs says that estimate was revised and individual parts may run out sooner.

PrintVeld’s take: South African buyers considering a used professional printer should look beyond the purchase price. A working machine can still carry a difficult repair risk when a particular replacement part is scarce or expensive to import.

Before making an offer, ask about its exact model, service history and the parts it may need. Confirm availability with support or a supplier rather than treating a broad support date as a guarantee for every component.

What information should every second-hand resin-printer listing include to help the next owner make a sensible choice?
