On 14 September 2026, Stratasys highlighted a rollout across more than 20 General Motors manufacturing facilities. Its announcement accompanied a new showcase of a longstanding collaboration, rather than claiming that every installation happened on that day.

GM teams use additive manufacturing for production aids, fixtures, quality-control tools, protective components and replacement parts. Stratasys says facilities in North and South America have used its platforms for years, with F900 systems helping teams share qualified applications across the network.

PrintVeld’s take: the most transferable idea for South African businesses is the shared library. If one workshop solves a recurring problem, another workshop should be able to find the design, understand its intended use and reproduce it consistently.

That requires more than uploading an STL. Record the material, orientation, revision, fit checks and working conditions alongside the file. Those notes help the next maker judge whether the design suits their situation.

Could local workshops build a useful library of verified production aids together? Start with one repeatable problem and explain how you would check the printed solution.
