OrcaSlicer 2.4.2 was published on 7 July 2026 as a maintenance release following 2.4.1. Its official notes concentrate on reliability: recovering presets linked to renamed profiles, keeping disabled filament overrides off after cloud sync, and making printer connectivity more dependable.

The release also addresses crashes involving prime-tower rotation, the Measure tool and Pressure Advance calibration. A new filename placeholder can use the first printable object’s name, while sync messages identify the preset involved instead of leaving users to guess.

PrintVeld’s take: profile reliability matters when a local maker has already spent time tuning a particular spool and printer. A quieter software update can save more frustration than another headline feature if it keeps that working setup intact.

This article covers the July release, not a claim that 2.4.2 is the newest version today. Use the linked project page to check subsequent releases. Keep an export of your working profiles and compare a familiar project before changing your everyday workflow.

Which slicer issue costs you the most time: lost presets, inaccurate estimates, awkward supports or unreliable printer connections?
