PrusaSlicer 3.0 preview: a new workspace for bigger print projects

Prusa’s September announcement introduces independent print beds, a rebuilt interface and a plugin system. Here is what local makers should watch.

On 1 September 2026, Prusa announced the first public preview of PrusaSlicer 3.0. The company describes a rebuilt interface and a project system in which different beds can have their own settings and printer profiles, with beds sliced in parallel.

The announcement also introduces a plugin system and says online integrations remain optional, including an offline mode. PrusaSlicer remains open source under AGPLv3.

At announcement, Prusa explicitly called this an unfinished alpha, with features still being brought across from the 2.x series. Treat the announcement as a preview of the direction, and check the current release notes before changing your regular workflow.

PrintVeld’s take: for South African makers juggling different printers or batches, independent beds could make project preparation easier. That is our interpretation, rather than a local performance test. Try a copy of a non-critical project, keep your existing working profiles, and share what improves—or gets in the way—in the community.
